The proposed annual dues include the recurring sessions and resources listed above. The Academy foundation course, immersive workshops, and annual summit would be separately priced. Final benefits, eligibility, renewal terms, and any discounts would be published before enrollment opens.

03 / PROPOSED CREDENTIAL PATHWAYS

Make your commitment
something you can show.

A proposed progression from foundational learning to assessed professional practice. Designed to reward thoughtful judgment, continuing development, and care for the whole animal.

In development, not currently awarded. These are proposed AVLA educational credentials. They are not veterinary board certification, a license to practice, or a change in professional scope. No external accreditation or CE approval is claimed.

FOUNDATION / COMPLETION CERTIFICATE

Veterinary Longevity
Foundations Certificate

An entry point for veterinary professionals who want a common language for healthy aging.

Proposed eligibility
Veterinarians, veterinary care teams, researchers, and veterinary trainees.
Learning commitment
The 24-hour, six-module Academy foundation course.
Completion requirements
Finish all modules, knowledge checks, and a reflective practice assignment.
What it recognizes
Course completion. It would not certify clinical competence or confer a specialist title.

CARE TEAM / ASSESSED CERTIFICATION

AVLA Certification in
Animal Healthspan Support

A proposed pathway recognizing the care team’s contribution to observation, communication, and continuity of care.

Proposed eligibility
Credentialed veterinary technicians or nurses, working within local rules and veterinary supervision.
Learning commitment
36 total hours, including Foundations and role-specific applied learning.
Assessment
Scenario-based knowledge checks, a caregiver communication exercise, and a supervised care-support portfolio.
Maintaining the credential
Proposed three-year renewal with 12 hours of relevant learning and current professional credential verification.
How would the proposed certifications earn professional trust?

Before launch, AVLA would develop a published competency framework, independent clinical and educational review, transparent assessment rubrics, assessor conflict-of-interest rules, an appeals process, and clear renewal standards. Certification would recognize demonstrated learning and reasoning, never product purchases, sponsorship, or claims of guaranteed patient outcomes.

Names, eligibility, hours, fees, assessments, and renewal requirements are illustrative and subject to review. No post-nominal letters are proposed. A completion certificate and an assessed certification would be explicitly distinguished.

04 / MAKE ROOM FOR PROGRESS

The conversations
that change practice.

An imagined first-year program, from an hour with peers to a full day of shared inquiry. Dates, faculty, venues, and registration remain to be confirmed.
